With its Advanced Power Modulation (APMTM), the VISALIS® 500 ensures that the ophthalmologist can clearly reduce the energy entering the lens nucleus during phacoemsulification and control the fluidics more effectively.

Unlike traditional systems, APM combines the benefits of the two common ultrasound modulations (pulse & burst), leading to a considerable improvement in the treatment outcome. For the surgeon, this means faster surgery.

Experts in Germany, Sweden, France, Spain, Italy and India have subjected the system to detailed testing and compared procedures conducted with a ZEISS VISALIS with APM mode to those conducted with a VISALIS with traditional phaco mode.

They all agree that the phaco energy can be clearly reduced with APM by an average of 50 percent. For hart cataracts of grade 4-5, an approximate reduction of as much of 73 percent was achieved.

This energy reduction leads to better protection of the corneal epithelium and therefore to enhanced patient safety.

With APM, more patients display a clear cornea and a more healthy cell structure on the first day after surgery. APM also increases chamber stability by 32% compared to conventional pulse technology.
